I will judge the entries and announce a winner on February 1, 2013 on this blog. The winner will receive a $10 Starbucks gift card.

  3. Sarah raced down the narrow path through the trees, her feet pounding in time with her heart, as she pulled the cell phone from her pocket she stumbled over a protruding rock. The cell phone went flying off into the trees! She scrambled up from where she had fallen and glanced behind her, before resuming her race. So far there was no sign of the wolf that had been stalking her. Another hundred yards and she would be within shouting distance of the ranger's cabin. She burst out of the woods shouting for help and ran into a solid mass that wrapped his arms around her. She looked up into a pair of chrystal blue eyes.Suddenly she felt safe, she knew that Amos would keep her safe. It didn't matter that they hadn't spoken since the accident...he was a man of honor and would protect her. She collapsed into his arms and he supported her until she could get her breath.
    "What's wrong Sarah", he snapped.
Sarah gasped," There was a wolf following me1 I was so scared."
"I'm sure it's gone, let's go in and have a cup of coffee" said Amos as he led her into the ranger's station.

  8. tried to catch up with her best friend. She hadn't meant to say the words that hurt her. When Sarah saw the look on her friends face she knew instantly she was out of line. Maggie she yelled, please stop, I need to explain why I said what I said. I didn't mean to hurt you. Maggie raced on as if she hadn't heard Sarah call out to her. Sarah felt defeated. Should she continue chasing after Maggie or should she just go home and pray that Maggie will soon give her a chance to explain. Why didn't I just keep my mouth shut Sarah chastised herself. When will I ever learn? What right did I have to tell Maggie that I saw John, Maggie's fiance', kissing Callie? Maggie had looked at me in disbelief and said, I don't believe you! Why are you lying to me? I need time to think through what my next step will be. Hopefully Maggie will come around.

  9. Sarah raced down the narrow path through the trees, her feet pounding in time with her heart as she tried to escape her demons. Her bad thoughts, the 'what ifs' in her life. Those were little more than poison. For a long time, and she had no idea just how long, she ran. She ran and ran, seeing no other course of action... until her feet literally tripped her up. One moment she was flying free, the dreary scene blurring around her, and the next she was on the ground and unable to breathe. She coughed, blinking in shock. A slight burning ran up her leg, red trickling down to stain the dirt. And then the bad thoughts seized her, always just a footstep behind. "it was your fault." they whispered relentlessly.
